A Summer Behind the Camera in Winfield

A Weekend of Rodeo, Community & Western Tradition

Celebrating an incredible day of breakaway roping, horsemanship, and the people behind it On July 25, I had the privilege of photographing the Alberta Ladies Breakaway Roping Finals, bringing together talented competitors for a full day of fast runs, great horses, and some seriously exciting moments in the arena. There is something special about photographing breakaway roping. Everything happens incredibly quickly, but behind those few seconds in the arena are countless hours

Canola field portraits were a great success this season!

Photographing families is a unique privilege. This past weekend, I had the joy of photographing a mother and daughter I first met two years ago. Revisiting them offered a rare chance to witness not only their personal growth but also my own development as a photographer and communicator. Comparing the two sessions side by side reveals more than just changes in appearance, it tells a story of evolving relationships, skills, and the passage of time. Image on the left is my cu

Earning accreditation with the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) is a goal that many photographers, including myself, pursue with dedication. This year, I am once again submitting my work for accreditation as a Family Environmental Photographer. Having tried before, I have learned valuable lessons that have shaped my approach. One significant change is the addition of off-camera lighting to better control the light in my sessions. This blog shares my journey, the im

Winter on a farm offers a unique charm that few settings can match. Crisp air, soft light, and the quiet beauty of nature create the perfect backdrop for family photography sessions. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing the Blanchard family during a casual winter session on their farm. Baby Annie and three-year-old Jackson brought warmth and joy to the chilly day, while the family’s horses added a special touch along the fence line. Using my new Canon R6 Mark II and

Memories shape our sense of identity, yet in rural farm and ranch life, capturing those moments often takes a backseat to daily chores and hard work. As someone who lives this lifestyle and understands its unique rhythm, I have shifted my photography business to focus on rural families. My goal is to highlight the importance of preserving family memories in a setting where time is precious and moments can slip away unnoticed. Why Rural Family Photography Matters Farm and ranc

Capturing love stories is always a joy. Sometimes, those stories come with unexpected moments that make the experience unforgettable. I had the privilege of photographing a couples session that turned into a beautiful surprise proposal. The groom-to-be contacted me secretly, hoping to create a magical moment without his fiancé suspecting a thing. What made this even more special was the involvement of their adorable little dogs, who played a starring role in the surprise. Her

Every year, 4-H Clubs across Alberta celebrate the hard work and accomplishments of their members during Achievement Days and 4-H Shows. These events mark important milestones for young people who have dedicated time and effort to learning new skills, raising animals, and contributing to their communities. Yet, amid the excitement, many families miss the chance to capture these moments with quality photos. That’s why I believe booking professional photography for 4-H events i
